The Beagle

Cookie Policy

Last updated: 12 August 2026

The short version: nothing that tracks you runs on this website unless you have said yes. When you first arrive we ask, and you can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Some are needed to make a site work. Others follow what you do so a business can measure its advertising or understand its visitors. Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, alongside the UK GDPR), we must ask your permission before using anything in that second group, and it must be as easy to refuse as to accept.

The categories we use

Strictly necessary

Always on, and exempt from consent because the site cannot work without them. The only one we set is a cookie called beagle_consent, which remembers the choice you made on this banner so we do not pester you on every page. It lasts six months, contains nothing but your preferences, and is not shared with anyone.

Analytics

Off unless you switch it on. When enabled, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people actually read, so we know what is worth writing more of. We have it configured to anonymise IP addresses. We use it to understand the audience as a group, not to build a profile of you.

Advertising

Off unless you switch it on. When enabled, we use measurement tools from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok. These let us see whether an advert actually led someone to visit or join the waitlist, and let us avoid spending money showing adverts to people who have already signed up. They involve sharing limited information about your visit with those platforms, who act as independent controllers of that data under their own privacy policies.

What is switched on right now

At the time of writing, no analytics or advertising tools are active on this site. We are preparing to open, and we expect to enable them as we begin promoting the restaurant. The consent controls above are already in place so that when we do, nothing loads for anyone who has not agreed to it. We will update the date on this page whenever that changes.

Things that are not cookies

Changing your mind

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Turning something off stops it being used from that point on. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings, or browse in private mode.
